ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT

Responsibilities:

  1. Reconcile daily sales reports with bank statements, identifying and flagging any discrepancies.
  2. Maintain accurate and up-to-date sales and transaction records, conduct data analysis, and perform regular spot checks to ensure internal compliance.
  3. Manage and monitor petty cash, ensuring all vouchers and receipts are properly recorded and available for audit purposes.
  4. Prepare and process invoices, expense reports, and other financial documents efficiently and accurately.
  5. Reconcile accounts payable and receivable, and assist in bank reconciliation processes.
  6. Input financial data into the accounting system, maintaining completeness and accuracy of records.
  7. Update daily reports on sales, fuel consumption, stock levels, cash deposits, and credit transactions.
  8. Maintain a well-organized filing system for both digital and physical financial records.
  9. Provide administrative support to the finance department, ensuring proper document filing and efficient record-keeping.
  10. Assist in the preparation of financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual summaries.
  11. Work with other departments to resolve any accounting discrepancies and ensure compliance with policies.
  12. Contribute to budget preparation and forecasting by compiling and analyzing financial data.
  13. Support internal and external audit processes by providing required documentation.
  14. Stay informed on financial regulations and accounting best practices relevant to the industry

Requirements and qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, CPA is added advantage.
  2. Proven experience in a similar accounting or finance role, preferably within the fuel or energy sector.
  3. Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, or similar platforms.
  4. Strong computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  5. Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and audit practices.
  6. High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  7. Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  8. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
